What is the SSA Ticket To Work Program?

The Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Ticket to Work Program is a voluntary, free program designed to help individuals with disabilities enter or re-enter the workforce while maintaining access to key benefits. Many individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) want to work but may need assistance with career development, job placement, and navigating the transition from benefits to employment. As a federally contracted employment network, ERS offers a safety net to these individuals while they simply test their abilities to work.

The FAQs …

How does the SSA Ticket to Work program benefit my clients?

The Ticket to Work program is a free and voluntary Social Security Administration (SSA) program that helps SSI and SSDI beneficiaries explore employment while protecting their benefits. By partnering with EmployReward Solutions (ERS), your clients gain access to job placement, benefits counseling, and ongoing support — giving them a safety net as they return to work.

How do disability attorneys benefit from partnering with ERS?

Through a PartnERShip, attorneys can:

  • Offer clients trusted support and resources.

  • Share in revenue generated through the SSA Ticket to Work program.

  • Strengthen client relationships with a “beyond the case” service.
It’s a win-win: your clients get career support, and your practice gains new value streams.

What services does ERS provide to referred clients?

ERS offers comprehensive employment services including:

  • Resume writing & job placement (via DirectEmployers’ national job feed)

  • Mock interviews & vocational assessments

  • Benefits counseling by VCU-certified specialists

  • Wage reporting (mobile-friendly tools)

  • Access to a free online training library

  • Ongoing coaching and resources for housing, transportation, and education

How does revenue sharing work in this model?

ERS generates payments from SSA when beneficiaries achieve work milestones. Attorneys and NOSSCR members can share in that revenue through negotiated agreements — whether percentage-based tiers, fixed fees for referrals, or direct collaboration. Each model is flexible, transparent, and designed to reward both attorneys and the clients they serve.

“I was a single father searching for a 3 bedroom house and my Career Coach, April was able to help me find a house using findhelp.org. It did not have an application fee, and we are now comfortably settled in our new home! April researched all the services offered to me to ensure everything was available. She continues to give me support as I work on my GED. I have passed all sections, with just math to finish!”

“A couple of months after I began the Ticket To Work program with ERS, I started a staff support position at a local treatment program. I am now thriving at this position and just bought a new car, got a new puppy, got my drivers license back, (I had a DUI a couple years ago) and am now 16 months sober! 2 years ago I never would have dreamed I would be where I am today.”

“I had been incarcerated, but have worked to turned my whole life around. Shortly after signing up with ERS, I went into rehab and gave my Careen Coach permission for monthly calls and she stayed consistent. After rehab, I am now living in a complex that helps others with addiction and abusive situations. I am now going to school to become a substance abuse counselor.”
